Job summary

DPD Group UK is hiring an experienced Yard Technician to inspect, service, maintain and repair a large HGV fleet. You will report to the VMU Manager and ensure operations meet safety, DVSA and roadworthiness standards in a time-critical parcel distribution environment.

The role involves diagnostics, repair of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults, preparing vehicles for MOT, and maintaining detailed records in a fast-paced workshop alongside other technicians.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in heavy vehicle maintenance/repair.
• Ability to read technical manuals and diagnostic reports.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Good organisational and time management abilities.
• Team player with ability to work independently.
• Commitment to health, safety and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine DVSA-compliant safety inspections on the DPD HGV fleet.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults.
• Repair/replace engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical, exhaust and emissions systems.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and ensure compliance standards are met.
• Maintain accurate service records, defect reports and inspection documentation.
• Maintain a clean, safe workshop and ensure proper use of tools and diagnostic systems.
• Collaborate with other technicians, VMU operatives and management.
