Job summary

Thrive Oldham is supporting a client in Leicestershire to recruit Specialist HGV Drivers for waste haulage operations, including hook loader and related vehicle systems. A valid HGV licence and Driver CPC are essential, with significant HGV experience in waste transport.

Role focuses on transporting waste materials from RHWS sites to disposal locations, adhering to health and safety regulations and vehicle movement policies. Competitive hourly rate £14.38 and a 7.5-hour day, five days per week.

Qualifications

• A valid HGV Licence, driver CPC.
• Significant experience driving HGVs, in waste haulage; use of hook loader and easy sheet.
• Knowledge of drive legislation and Health & Safety, especially on waste sites and loading containers.
• Waste Haulage legislation and practice.

Responsibilities

• Complete uplifts and other jobs efficiently.
• Comply with systems, procedures, or directions by Transport Supervisor or Fleet Manager.
• Ensure asset care and minimize incidents, damage or costs.
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and sign driver handbook.
• Report defects daily to supervisor; major defects immediately.
• Complete daily sheets and ensure tickets are attached to worksheets.
• Ensure tachographs are signed and returned monthly.
• Keep vehicles fueled for next day.
• Keep vehicles clean and presentable.
• Wear uniform and PPE as required for safety.
• Be courteous to customers.
• Highlight any service problems to supervisor.

Thrive Oldham are delighted to be working with our client in the Leicestershire area, who are actively looking to recruit Specialist HGV Drivers - G4 - X2570

Job Purpose

Predominantly will be driving a mechanical brush lorry but will also need to be able to drive bin lorries and a roll on/off skip lorry.

Transport waste materials from Leicestershire County Council's Recycling and Household Waste Sites (RHWS) to disposal locations, using Hook Loader HGVs

A valid HGV Licence, driver CPC.

Significant Experience driving HGV's , working in waste haulage industry. use of specialist vehicle systems relevant to haulage waste, such as hook loader and easy sheet.

Knowledge of drive legislation, Health and Safety, particularly regarding vehicle movements on waste sites and loading containers.

Waste Haulage legislation and practice.

Rate of pay £14.38

Hours of work 5 days a week - 7.5 hours per day

Service Responsibilities

• To complete all uplifts and other jobs on any given day, and to do so in the most efficient and effective manner
• Comply with all systems, procedures or directions given by the Transport Supervisor or the Fleet Manager
• Ensure due care for assets (including vehicles, compactors, bins and site infrastructure) when carrying out the service, minimising any incidents, accidents, damage or costs
• Conduct daily vehicle checks in line with policy and legislation, and sign the driver handbook
• Report all defects at the end of the day if considered serviceable, liaising with the supervisor if unsure. Major defects to be reported immediately
• 9. Complete daily sheets and submit daily, ensuring that all tickets are stapled to the worksheet concerned
• 10. Ensure Tacho's are signed for and returned monthly (or driver books)
• 12. Vehicles to have enough fuel for the next working day
• 13. Vehicles to be kept clean (inside and out) and presentable at all times
• 14. Wear uniform at all times and when needed wear PPE to carry out duties in a safe manner in line with Health and Safety
• 15. Be courteous to customers at all times
• 16. Highlight any service problems you may be having to your supervisor
