Job summary

Eland Cables in Sheffield requires a Class 1 HGV Driver to join our logistics team. You will drive curtain side and flatbed trailers, ensuring loads are loaded and secured, and you will perform daily vehicle safety checks.

You will communicate with the transport team, meet deadlines, and participate in ongoing DCPC training. Roles may involve overnight stays across the UK and EU, with enhanced rates for weekends and additional benefits.

Qualifications

• Must hold a UK valid Class of Licence for the vehicle.
• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• Experience of delivering loads directly to customer sites is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver goods to destinations using curtain side and flatbed trailers.
• Load and secure goods correctly to prevent shifting or damage.
• Use straps, chains and other securing devices as needed.
• Perform daily vehicle safety checks and maintain compliance with safety standards.
• Maintain excellent communication with the transport team and customers.
• Participate in regular training sessions to stay updated with industry standards.

The Role

As a Class 1 Driver you will:

• Use curtain side and flatbed trailers to deliver goods to destinations in a timely manner.
• Ensure goods are loaded and secured correctly to prevent shifting or damage.
• Use straps, chains and other securing devices as needed.
• Perform comprehensive daily vehicle safety checks using the company phone to maintain compliance with the highest standards for vehicle safety and reliability.
• Maintain excellent communication with the transport team to provide updates on your progress and ensure our customers' expectations are achieved.
• Participate in regular training sessions to stay ahead of the latest industry standards and best practices.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Must hold a UK valid Class of Licence for the vehicle.
• Current DCPC Card and Digital Tachograph Driver Card.
• Experience of delivering loads directly to customer sites is advantageous.
