Job summary

A growing logistics company based in Manchester is seeking a professional HGV Driver Class 1 with a Lorry Loader/Hiab licence to join their transport team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe delivery of goods across the UK and supporting operations on customer sites. Job description

Gerritsen Logistics UK, part of the Gerritsen Group, is a fast-growing international transport company specializing in industrial relocations and heavy transport across Europe. We work closely with our UK machinery moving company Speedrite.

From our base in Manchester, one of our machinery moving locations, we ensure safe, reliable and on-time transport solutions for our customers, and in-house services.

Position: HGV Driver Class 1 (with Lorry Loader/Hiab licence)

We are looking for a professional and motivated HGV Driver to strengthen our transport team. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of goods across the UK. As one of the key representatives of Gerritsen Logistics UK, you will play a vital role in ensuring our customers receive their goods in perfect condition and on time.

Please note that the role involves moving in-house plant and equipment such as large forklift trucks and MEWP’s, as well as clients heavy machine tools and machinery. You will be required to work as part of a team, on customers sites assisting our engineers.

We are NOT looking for general delivery drivers

What we ask of you

• Licence & Certification: Valid UK Class 1 (Category CE) licence, CPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence), and valid tachograph card. Crane certificate (HIAB or similar) is a strong advantage. Experience with heavy haulage or exceptional loads is an advantage. CSCS card and plant related training would also be an advantage.
• Experience: Proven track record in national or international driving. Experience in load securing and with open trailers and step-frame / low-loader trailers is essential.
• Language Skills: Good command of English is required. Knowledge of other European languages is a plus.
• Technical Skills:
  • Ability to prepare and check all necessary freight documentation.
  • Skilled in loading, unloading, and safely securing goods.
  • Capable of working independently and planning routes in coordination with our logistics team.
  • Responsible for correct administrative reporting in our system.
  • Maintain vehicle, equipment, and workplace cleanliness and safety.
• Personal Qualities: Independent, professional, customer-friendly, and a reliable team player.
