Job summary

GRS Group in Hatfield is seeking a self-motivated LGV/HGV driver to join our busy team. You will deliver goods efficiently and safely, comply with health and safety rules, and help maintain vehicles and records.

The role involves checking vehicles each day, loading properly, and providing excellent service at customers' premises. On-site training is provided; 45 hours per week with overtime opportunities; company pension and health checks.

Qualifications

HGV Class 1 License required with some experience
CPC Card required
Valid Tachograph Card required
On-site training provided on the day

Responsibilities

Check the safety and condition of the vehicle at the start of each day and record its condition.
Care for company assets and ensure they are used according to manufacturers’ guidance.
Ensure vehicle is securely loaded and weighs within legal limits.
Drive efficiently and productively within road traffic laws.
Represent the company professionally on the road and at customers’ premises.
Assist in yard and other duties when not driving or taking breaks.
Complete reports and documentation accurately to assist management.
Contribute to the company’s wellbeing and profitability.
Comply with HR and Health & Safety duties to promote a safe workplace.

JOB PURPOSE

To drive LGV/HGV vehicles and deliver goods and services as required. To drive company delivery vehicles and deliver its goods to customers efficiently and considerately whilst ensuring the health and safety of self, the public and other road users. To ensure the good maintenance and operation of the company's assets and to provide excellent service to customers.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES,

To check the safety and condition of the vehicle at the start of each day and to record its condition using the system provided and to promptly report any faults as they occur.
To care for the company's assets whilst in his/her charge and ensure they are used according to manufacturer's recommendations ensuring effective long-term performance.
To ensure the vehicle is securely loaded and restrained and that the vehicle weights are within the legally permitted limits.
To drive as efficiently and productively as possible but to do so within the prevailing road traffic law.
To give due consideration to the health and safety of self, the public and other road users at all times.
To represent the company both on the road and at the customers' premises in a professional and considerate manner at all times and to report promptly any matters likely to affect the company's business prospects.
To assist in yard and other duties as may be required when not driving or taking legally required breaks.
To complete reports and documentations to time and as accurately as possible to assist in the management of the business.
To contribute to the wellbeing and profitability of the business as far as it depends upon him/her.
Responsibility for compliance and discharging legal duties with regards to HR and Health & Safety to promote a safe, equitable and legally compliant work place.
