Job summary

Driver Support Services in Peterborough is seeking an HIAB driver to operate HGV safely and support Civils/Groundworks teams. You will deliver and collect materials to and from sites, and maintain high safety standards.

This role is physically demanding, requires a Class 2 license with Digi-Tacho, and flexibility for early starts and overtime. Training and ongoing assignments available; weekend work may occur when needed.

Qualifications

• Reliable and punctual with good communication for team and customer service.
• Have a Full UK Driving Licence with class 2 and a Digi-Tacho card.
• Physically fit and able to bend, lift and manual handle; use mechanical aids where possible.
• Respect safety rules and PPE requirements for all worksites.
• Be prepared for outdoor working conditions, wet and dirty environments.
• Working hours and travel may be unpredictable; overtime paid.
• Average 9–10 hours per day; weekends optional when work is available.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and collect materials to and from our teams.

• Assist with signing, lighting and guarding of works.
• Remove construction waste to recycling centres and clear sites of debris.

Driver Support Services are currently recruiting HIAB driver to work in and around the area of Peterborough

TheHIAB Driver ensures that the HGV and HIAB is operated safe whilst supporting the Civils/Groundworks teams.

• Deliver and collect materials to and from our teams
• Ensure the safety of members of the public and operational staff whilst the HGV is operating.
• To assist with the backfill of pipe excavations and trenches in the highway.
• To assist with signing, lighting and guarding of works.
• To remove construction waste materials to recycling centres and clear sites of debris.

Required Skills and Experience:

To be reliable and punctual with good communication skills to ensure team and customer services delivered.

Have a Full UK Driving Licence with class 2 licence and digi-tacho card.

To be physically fit and good with your hands as these roles can be physically demanding, involve bending, lifting and manual handling. However, much of the work will be carried out by mechanical equipment to assist with this.

To respect the rules laid down for working safely. Ensuring you can follow process and comply with the requirements of the work, including the wearing of PPE.

Be prepared for outdoor working conditions which may be wet and dirty.

To understand that working hours and travel are not always predictable as things do go wrong, you need to be adaptable and flexible, paid overtime working will be required.

It’s an average of 9 to 10 hours per day with weekends optional when there is work available.

We operate under GB Domestic Hours Rules and all drivers must hold Driver CPC Card, Digicard and Lorry Mounted Crane Certfication for this position.
