Job description

Description

We are seeking to recruit a HGV driver at our wood recycling facility in Manchester. As a HGV Driver - Class 1, you will be responsible for scheduled deliveries and collections, ensuring the safety and security of the vehicle during loading, transporting, and unloading, while complying with all relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure knowledge of daily deliveries and collections as per the planning board.
  • Carry out daily vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness, complete defect sheets, and report faults to the Fleet Coordinator.
  • Conduct pre-start checks, including Digi-card and vehicle unit, update mileage sheets, and manage bins/covers.
  • Undertake all scheduled deliveries and collections.
  • Complete and sign paperwork for collections and deliveries; discuss any financial queries as needed.
  • Inspect collection container loads before leaving the Customer Site; notify the Transport Office of any issues.
  • Operate the vehicle in accordance with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the vehicle and load during delivery and collection.
  • Maintain cleanliness in your work and communal areas, following the 'Clean as you go' policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company and customer information.
  • Adhere to all corporate policies, procedures, and health and safety documentation.
  • Ensure skips are filled or emptied appropriately before leaving the Customer Site and record any damages.
  • Report damages or issues at customer premises or with the vehicle promptly.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle.
  • Report defects and breaches of policies or safety procedures using the appropriate channels.
  • Report all near misses, incidents, and accidents both on and off site.
