Job summary

Enva in Lugton is seeking a professional HGV Driver to join our Transport team on a permanent full-time basis. You will securely collect and deliver waste materials across the mainland UK, with a focus on safety, compliance and customer service.

Typical week is 45 hours, Monday to Friday, with 1–3 overnights as needed. The role offers a competitive hourly rate of £16.50, weekly pay, a pension, life cover and access to training, including ADR where funded.

Qualifications

• Valid UK driving licence with 3 points or less preferred.
• Solid knowledge of EU & WTD Tachograph Regulations.
• Good geographical knowledge of mainland UK and the Highway Code.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport waste materials to and from customer sites.
• Perform daily vehicle checks and report faults.
• Ensure compliance with traffic, tachograph and ADR rules.
• Represent Enva on-site and support customers' waste handling.
• Report near misses and follow safety rules.

Description

• Competitive Pay: Basic hourly rate of £16.50 per hour, with average earnings tracking between £43,000 and £48,000 once overtime, training, and tramping/overnight bonuses are included.

• Clean Record: Valid Driver’s license. 3 points or less is highly preferred, but up to a maximum of 6 points may be considered depending on the nature of the offenses (e.g. mobile phone offenses will not be accepted).
• Compliance Knowledge: Solid understanding of EU & WTD Tachograph Regulations and Operator Licence obligations.
• Road Savvy: Good geographical knowledge of mainland UK and a strong grasp of the Highway Code.
• Mindset: A proactive, safety-first attitude with high integrity and a professional approach.
• Flexibility: Willingness to undertake 1 to 3 overnights (tramping) per week depending on changing operational needs (more nights are available if you want them)!

Key Responsibilities

• Safe Transport: Securely collect and deliver waste materials (including hazardous streams like batteries, oil, filters, and plastics) to and from customer premises.
• Vehicle Care: Complete daily pre- and post-use vehicle safety checks, maintaining vehicle cleanliness and reporting any faults promptly.
• Compliance: Ensure absolute adherence to traffic legislation, Tachograph requirements, and ADR regulations at all times.
• Customer Face: Act as the key on-site representative for Enva, helping customers store waste correctly and relaying any new requirements back to line managers.
• Safety First: Report any near misses or hazards immediately and strictly follow both Enva and customer site health and safety rules.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Hours & Shifts: 45 hours per week guaranteed, with plenty of opportunity for additional overtime. Typical shift start windows are between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build positive customer relationships.
• Organization: Highly organised with excellent time management, a great eye for detail, and strong organisational skills.
• Problem Solving: Solution-focused approach to handling on-site complaints or conflicts smoothly.
• Desirable: Experience working within the waste or recycling industry.
• Desirable (Training Funded): ADR certification is highly desirable. However, if you do not currently hold an ADR, full training and funding can be provided for the right candidate.
