Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Irlam for HGV Class 2 / Tanker / JetVac crews. The role involves operating HGV Class 2 vehicles and specialist Tanker and JetVac equipment to undertake sewer cleaning, emptying, and maintenance activities on wastewater networks and related assets. Daily tasks include safely driving to various sites, setting up and operating jetting and vacuum units, supporting CCTV inspections, and assisting with drainage surveys and “No Dig” rehabilitation operations as required. Crew members are expected to follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures, complete job-related documentation, and communicate effectively with clients, site contacts, and the wider team. The role may include working varied hours and occasional emergency or out-of-hours call-outs to support 24/7 service delivery.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) license, Driver CPC, and a good driving record; experience operating tankers or JetVac units is highly desirable.
• Previous experience in wastewater, drainage, utilities, or related field operations, including jetting, vacuuming, or sewer cleaning activities.
• Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental practices, with the ability to work safely on active sites and follow risk assessments and method statements.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a crew, communicate clearly with colleagues and clients, and maintain a professional, customer-focused approach.
• Good physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including manual handling and working in potentially confined or challenging environments.
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills, with the ability to complete job sheets, digital records, and vehicle/equipment checks accurately.
• Flexibility to work shifts, overtime.
• Desirable qualifications may include CSCS or EUSR, water hygiene certification, confined space training, HPWJ certs.
