Job summary

Bamford Contract Services Ltd are recruiting on behalf of Rochdale Council for a Refuse Truck Driver in Rochdale. Immediate start, ongoing temporary contract, paying £14.82–£15.15 per hour PAYE, with hours Tue–Fri starting 6:30am and additional days as required.

Role involves driving a refuse collection vehicle within a three-person crew, collecting household/public waste and ensuring safe, compliant operation alongside loaders.

Qualifications

• HGV Class 2 / Category C licence required.
• Valid and in-date Driver CPC required.
• Previous HGV driving experience essential.
• Experience driving larger commercial vehicles advantageous.
• Waste/refuse collection experience desirable but not essential.
• Confident with transport legislation and driver responsibilities.
• Able to complete vehicle checks and defect reports.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive and operate HGV refuse collection vehicles.
• Take responsibility for the vehicle, route and collection crew.
• Work as part of a three-person waste collection team.
• Collect household and public waste.
• Adhere to transport legislation and road safety requirements.
• Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects.
• Maintain accurate driver records and use in-cab technology.
• Provide a professional customer-facing service.
