Lawsons in Princes Risborough is seeking an experienced HGV Class 2 HIAB Driver to join our branch. You will deliver building materials safely to trade and retail customers across the local area, maintaining high standards of customer service.

Key requirements include a full HGV 2 licence with CPC, HIAB experience, and strong knowledge of safe loading and road transport compliance. The role involves early starts, potential Saturdays, and developing delivery schedules with accuracy.

Qualifications

• Full, valid HGV Class 2 licence with a clean driving record.
• Valid Driver CPC and digital tachograph card.
• Experience driving an HGV Class 2 vehicle in delivery/logistics.
• HIAB qualification or operator training.
• Good knowledge of safe loading/unloading and vehicle security procedures.
• Understanding of UK drivers’ hours and road transport compliance.
• Customer-focused and professional when representing the company.
• Reliable and able to manage delivery schedules with accurate paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Operate an HGV Class 2 vehicle with HIAB to complete customer deliveries.
• Plan and follow delivery routes considering site access and time windows.
• Load and unload building materials using HIAB and handling equipment.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and ensure safety of equipment.
• Report defects and delivery issues promptly through procedures.
• Ensure loads are secure and compliant with safety practices.
• Communicate professionally with customers and site personnel.
• Obtain proof of delivery and record any shortages or damages.
• Adhere to drivers’ hours and tachograph rules.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report maintenance needs.
• Follow health and safety procedures.
• Support the branch during busy periods.
