Job summary

Driver Hire Lancaster is recruiting for a Class 2 (Cat C) HGV driver to support local bin collection in Kendal. This is a reliable, safety-conscious role with regular hours and potential to secure a permanent position after a 12-week agency period.

You will drive a Class 2 refuse collection vehicle, assist with loading bins, and complete daily checks. Early start at 04:00 with pay £16.00 per hour (PAYE) and overtime rate £22.40 after 13:00; permanent salary £16.00 per hour on transfer.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
• Valid CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
• Good understanding of road safety and driver compliance.
• Positive attitude and willingness to assist with physical loading duties.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive and operate a Class 2 refuse collection vehicle.

Driver Hire Lancaster is currently recruiting for a Class 2 (Category C) HGV Driver to work with our client in the Kendal area, supporting local bin collection operations.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a reliable and safety-conscious driver looking for regular work, with the potential to secure a permanent position after a successful 12-week agency period.

The Role

As a Class 2 Driver, you will be responsible for the safe operation of refuse collection vehicles while working as part of a collection crew. This is a hands-on role and, in addition to driving duties, you will be assisting colleagues with loading bins and completing daily collection rounds.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely drive and operate a Class 2 refuse collection vehicle.
• Assist the collection team with loading and moving bins when required.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and defect reporting.
• Report any issues, incidents, or concerns to line management.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with health and safety regulations.
• Deliver excellent standards of professionalism and teamwork throughout each shift.

Hours & Pay

• Start time: 04:00
• Finish time: 13:00
• £16.00 per hour (PAYE Advanced)
• Overtime paid at £22.40 after 13:00
• Permanent salary £16.00 per hour following successful transfer
