Job summary

GAP Group in the United Kingdom is seeking a Driver for our Trenching & Shoring Division. You will deliver and collect trench boxes, trench sheets, and braces to construction sites across the UK, loading safely and completing all paperwork.

You will perform daily vehicle checks, demonstrate equipment on-site, and ensure on-site health and safety rules are followed. A Full UK driving licence (Cat C) and a safety-minded, customer-focused approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a driving role delivering hire equipment.
• Full UK driving licence with Category C (HGV) entitlement.
• Strong Health & Safety knowledge and safe working practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and accurate paperwork.
• Professional, friendly approach with customers and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Delivering and collecting hire equipment to and from customer sites, completing all paperwork accurately (including damage checks, fuel levels, and authorised signatures).
• Demonstrating equipment use where needed.
• Carrying out daily vehicle checks and basic maintenance to ensure roadworthiness and safety.
• Safely loading and unloading equipment using correct strapping and securing methods.
• Tagging damaged machines on return and placing them in the correct depot area.
• Maintaining a clean and organised vehicle and supporting general depot duties.
• Following customer site Health & Safety rules and using digital tachographs in line with legislation.

As a Driver in GAP’s Trenching & Shoring Division, you'll be at the heart of our operations delivering essential equipment to support excavations safely including trench boxes, trench sheets, and braces systems to construction, utilities, and infrastructure sites across the UK.

You'll load, deliver, and collect hire equipment safely and professionally, often demonstrating kit on-site and ensuring all checks and paperwork are completed accurately. Whether you're navigating busy city streets or remote rural roads, your role is key to keeping projects running smoothly.
