Job summary

Grafters Recruit Ltd in Hemel Hempstead is seeking multiple committed Home delivery HGV 2 drivers to deliver carpets to our B2B customers. The role involves manual handling up to 250kg, with carpet booms at some sites to unload. You will use a PDA device for route planning, scanning, proof of delivery, and real-time job updates.

Shifts run Monday to Friday from 05:00 to 06:00, guaranteed 10 hours per day, with a 45-minute break deducted after 10.75 hours. Overtime after 53.75 hours.

Qualifications

• This is a physically demanding role including lifting and shifting; you must be physically able to lift items.
• Valid in-date manual driving license with no more than 6 points.
• No more than 6 points on driving license; Newly Qualified drivers welcome.
• Experience in multi-drop roles is advantageous but not essential.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential.
• DBS check will be completed for the successful candidate.

Responsibilities

• Driving a HGV 2 safely and complying with road and vehicle regulations.
• Perform vehicle checks at start and end of each journey and report defects.
• Ensure vehicle and stock are secured and delivered safely.
• Provide a first-class customer service experience.

Job description

Grafters Recruit are Looking for multiple committed Home delivery HGV 2 drivers.The successful applicants will be responsible for delivering carpets to our B2B customer base. The role involves the handling of carpets, some weighing up to 250KG,using the manual handling equipment provided. At certain customer locations, carpet booms are available, allowing the customer to unload the vehicle directly at the point of delivery.

Drivers will be issued with a PDA Devcicewhich is used throughout the working day. The PDA includes approved navigation and mapping applications to assist with route planning, low bridge avoidance, and locating delivery addresses. The device is also used to scan carpets, capture proof of delivery, and complete jobs in real time, ensuring drivers have all the toolsrequiredto carry out their duties efficiently.

• Monday to Friday
• 05:00 - 06:00 start time each day
• Guaranteed 10 hours per day
• A 45-minute break will be deducted from any shift exceeding 10.75 hours
• Overtime payable after 53.75 hours per week (calculated after the above break deductions across the working week)
• pay rate: £18.07 per hour

DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Driving a HGV 2 in a safe manner, complying with all road traffic, and vehicle legislation
• Performing vehicle checks at the beginning and end of each journey and reporting all defects
• Ensuring the vehicle and stock are properly always secured and delivered in a safe manner
• Always providing a first-class customer service experience

REQUIREMENTS:

• This is a physically demanding role including lifting and shifting essential that you are physically able to lift items
• Valid in-date driving license manual licence
• No more than 6 points on driving license
• Newly Qualified drivers welcome
• Previous experience in a multi drop role would be advantageous but not essential
• Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential
• DBS security check will be completed on the successful candidate
