Job summary

J. Dickinson & Sons, established in 1939, seeks experienced Class 2 drivers to join our Horwich-based team. You will drive our vehicles safely, collect and deliver skips, and perform pre-use checks while engaging with customers and site teams.

Starting pay £35,490 per year with probation increases; 48.75 hours weekly (Mon-Fri 6:30am-5:15pm), alternate Saturdays 7am-12:30pm. Full training, PPE, 28 days’ leave, pension, life insurance, and health plan provided.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 2 driving licence.
• Proven experience as an HGV driver with a clean record.
• Able to work proactively and independently in a fast-paced operation.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive company vehicles safely and professionally.
• Collect and deliver skips and containers across local areas.
• Complete daily vehicle pre-use checks and report issues.
• Liaise with customers and site functions professionally.
• Represent the company in a professional manner.

We are looking for experienced and proactive Class 2 drivers to expand our team of dedicated staff!

The role

• to drive our company vehicles in a safe and professional manner
• to collect and deliver various sizes of skips and containers across our local areas
• to complete documented pre-use checks on the vehicle and report any issues identified
• to liaise and communicate effectively with customers, members of the public and various site functions
• to represent the company in an appropriate and professional manner
• to complete the daily work schedule in line with the customer and company objectives

What you need

• valid Class 2 category driving licence
• proven working experience as a HGV driver, with a good driving record and no traffic violations
• able to work proactively, independently and on own initiative in a fast-paced, high-volume operation
• previous experience working as a HGV driver in the waste industry would be advantageous; however, full training will be provided if you do not have this
• good written and verbal communication skills
• reliability, punctuality and good levels of attendance are a must
• Starting pay £35,490 per annum, increasing after probation
• 48.75 hours per week, Mon to Fri 6.30am-5.15pm
• Alternate Saturdays 7am-12.30pm, paid as extra
• Full training on our vehicles provided, with incremental increases offered on completion of training
