Job summary

Staffline is seeking an HGV Shunter Driver in Skelmersdale for a temporary role from August to December 2026. The position offers a full-time shift pattern of 4 on 4 off, 2pm–10pm, with pay rates from £15.62 to £20.52 per hour and on-site training.

Applicants should hold a valid HGV 1/C+E licence, DCPC and Tacho cards, with at least 6 months of HGV Class 1 experience, up to 6 penalty points, and no DD/DR convictions. On-site safety compliance and driver hours knowledge are required.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV 1/C+E Licence with DCPC & Tacho cards.
• Minimum 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience.
• No more than 6 points and no DD/DR convictions.
• Compliance with on-site health and safety and WTD/driving hours requirements.

Responsibilities

• Move and position vehicles safely within the yard/depot.
• Couple and uncouple trailers.
• Communicate with drivers and staff to ensure safe movements.
• Check for and report vehicle damages.

Staffline is recruiting an HGV Shunter Driver in Skelmersdale.

This is a temporary role running from August to December 2026.

Rates of pay are from £15.62 - £20.52 per hour.

This role offers a full-time role, working 4 on 4 off and the hours of work are:

• 2pm to 10pm

Shunt training and induction is completed on-site.

Your Time at Work

• Move and position vehicles safely within the yard and/or depot.
• Couple and uncouple.
• Communicate with drivers and other staff members to ensure movements are carried out safely.
• Check for and report any damages on the vehicles.

Our perfect worker will have excellent communication skills and be able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly.

Applicants will comply with on-site health and safety requirements. You will understand and be able to comply with driver's hours and WTD legislation

You should hold a valid HGV 1/C+E Licence, DCPC & Tacho cards and have a minimum of 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience with no more than 6 points no DD/ DR Code convictions.
