Job summary

Ascott Transport Limited (ATL) in Carlisle is seeking an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver for night shifts from 5pm to 5am. You will deliver goods, obtain proofs of delivery, and perform daily vehicle checks as part of a safety-focused transport operation.

Based at the Carlisle depot, the role requires a clean Class C+E licence, relevant CPC Tachograph card, and 2+ years of Class 1 driving. We offer a supportive team, on-site parking, and a benefits package designed to help work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Class C+E licence required.
• Valid Driver CPC Digital Tachograph card.
• Less than 6 penalty points on licence.
• 2+ years’ commercial Class 1 driving experience.
• Tug experience/licence.

Responsibilities

• Deliver goods in line with manifest instructions.
• Obtain customer signatures as proof of delivery.
• Complete daily vehicle and trailer defect checks.
• Carry out full vehicle safety checks per DVSA requirements.
• Communicate clearly with Transport Office and customers.
• Load, unload and secure goods safely and efficiently.
• Ensure vehicles are parked securely and kept clean.
• Follow Health & Safety procedures and SSOW.
• Work flexibly as part of a high-performing team.
• Adhere to RTD, EU regulations and Operator’s Licence responsibilities.
• Occasional handballing as required within Manual Handling Guidelines.

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will play an important role in our operation, ensuring goods are delivered safely, efficiently, and on time. You will work to the highest professional standards while representing ATL with professionalism and pride on the road and at customer sites.

This role is based out of our Carlisle depot, working nights between 5pm and 5am.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Complying with Health & Safety procedures, SSOW, and all relevant legislation
• Working flexibly as part of a high-performing team
• Understanding and adhering to RTD, EU regulations, and our Operator’s Licence responsibilities
• Occasional handballing may be required, always within Manual Handling Guidelines.
