Job summary

Ascott Transport Limited is seeking an HGV Class 1 Night Driver to join a growing operation in the UK. The role covers night-time deliveries, ensuring loads are secured, documenting defects, and communicating with the transport office and customers.

You will work in a team, adhere to safety standards and DVSA regulations, and contribute to a proactive, supportive workplace. Night shifts require reliability and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• HGV Class 1 Night Driver with valid Class 1 licence and tachograph experience.
• Less than 6 penalty points on Class 1 Licence.
• Minimum 2 years of commercial Class 1 driving experience.
• Tug experience/license is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver goods as per manifest.
• Obtain customer signatures as proof of delivery.
• Complete daily vehicle and trailer defect reporting.
• Communicate with Transport office and customers.
• Work as part of a team and be flexible to business needs.
• Perform vehicle checks for roadworthiness and DVSA compliance.
• Adhere to Health and Safety and related legislation.
• Participate in annual appraisal process.
• Unload trailers safely and securely.
• Occasional manual handling as required.
• Ensure loads are secured and vehicles kept clean.

We are looking for HGV class 1 Night driver to start immediately.

As an HGV Class 1 Night Driver you will:

• Deliver goods as per manifest sheet.
• Obtain customer signatures as proof of delivery.
• Complete daily defect reporting of vehicles and trailers as required.
• Communicate with Transport office staff and external customers.
• To work as part of a team and be flexible to the needs of the business
• Complete vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with DVSA regulations.
• Comply with Health and Safety (SSOW) and other related legislation.
• To participate in the business’s annual appraisal policy
• Unload trailers in a safe and efficient manner taking in all aspects H&S.
• Occasionally handballing maybe required in line with Manual Handling Guidelines
• Ensure vehicles are loaded in a safe manner and goods are secured appropriately.
• Ensure vehicle is always kept clean and tidy.
• Can work using own initiative and have a clear understanding of RTD and EU Regulations
• Fully understand your responsibilities towards the Companies Operating License
• Class C + E Licence
• Digital Tachograph Holder
• Less than 6 penalty points on Class 1 Licence
• 2 Years commercial use experience of Class 1 Licence
• Experience of working in a team
• Tug experience/License.
