Job summary

The Recruitment Crowd (Yorkshire) Limited on behalf of our Newcastle-based client is seeking experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers (CAT C+E) to join the team. There may be requirements to drive Class 2, 7.5 Tonne.

Shifts: Monday to Friday; Hours: 09:00 start. Location: Newcastle, NE37. Job Type: Ongoing. Pay: £15.28 per hour PAYE rising to £16.36 after 12 weeks.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement (C+E).
• At least 12 months proven experience driving the relevant vehicle.
• Valid and in date DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.
• No more than 6 points on licence (minor offences only).
• Full understanding of WTD legislation.
• Excellent communication skills and safety-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Collections and deliveries - up to 20 stops max.
• Manual handling required as drivers will assist with loading and unloading parcels at depots and customers locations.
• Collaborate with a team to ensure efficient operations and timely Collections / deliveries.
• Operating devices and company software to update delivery status and to communicate with the depot.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle, ensuring roadworthiness and compliance with company standards.
• Adhere to all relevant traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to maintain a high level of safety on the road.
• Effectively communicate with dispatch and logistics teams to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
