Job summary

The Recruitment Crowd are recruiting on behalf of a well known client based in Newcastle for an HGV Class 1 driver (C+E). This ongoing role includes collections and deliveries with up to 20 stops, and loading/unloading at depots and customer locations.

Shifts are Monday to Friday with a 09:00 start. Pay is £15.28 per hour PAYE, rising to £16.36 after 12 weeks, with full UK driving licence and DCPC/Digital Tachograph required.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement (C+E).
• Proven experience driving the relevant vehicle (12+ months).
• Valid DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.

Responsibilities

• Collections and deliveries with up to 20 stops.
• Assist with loading/unloading parcels at depots and customer locations.
• Coordinate with dispatch for timely collections/deliveries.
• Use company software to update delivery status.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring roadworthiness.
• Comply with traffic laws and company policies to maintain safety.

The Recruitment Crowd are currently recruiting on behalf of our well known and industry-leading client based in Newcastle. We are looking for experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers (CAT C+E) to join the team.

Please note that there may be requirements to drive other vehicles such as Class 2, 7.5 Tonne

Shifts: Monday to Friday

Hours: 09:00am start

Pay Rate: £15.28 per hour PAYE rising to £16.36 after 12 weeks

The role:

• Collections and deliveries - up to 20 stops max.
• Manual handling required as drivers will assist with loading and unloading parcels at depots and customers locations.
• Collaborate with a team to ensure efficient operations and timely Collections / deliveries.
• Operating devices and company software to update delivery status and to communicate with the depot.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle, ensuring roadworthiness and compliance with company standards.
• Adhere to all relevant traffic laws, regulations, and company policies to maintain a high level of safety on the road.
• Effectively communicate with dispatch and logistics teams to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.

Requirements:

• Full UK driving licence with Class 1 entitlement (category C+E).
• Have at least 12 months of proven experience driving the relevant vehicle.
• Valid and in date DCPC and Digital Tachograph card.
• No more than 6 points on licence (minor offences only).
• Full understanding of WTD legislation.
• Excellent communication skills.
