Job summary

SRG Recruitment is seeking experienced Class 1 HGV drivers for day and night shifts in Portsmouth. The role involves refrigerated trailer work, palletised deliveries, and multi-drop runs across local, regional, and national routes. Candidates should have UK Class 1/HGV1 experience, a valid CPC, and good English.

You will be required to load/unload, secure loads, complete paperwork, and adhere to drivers hours regulations while maintaining professional communication with customers.

Responsibilities

• Drive HGV Class 1/C+E/LGV1/HGV1 vehicles on day and night shifts.
• Perform refrigerated/fridge trailer work and palletised/caged deliveries.
• Complete delivery paperwork and use PDA systems.
• Adhere to Drivers' Hours, Tachograph, and WTD regulations.
• Ensure loads are secured and routes are planned efficiently.

CLASS 1 HGV DRIVER - DAY & NIGHT WORK - PORTSMOUTH

Are you looking for a new Class 1 HGV driving role in Portsmouth? SRG Recruitment Ltd are seeking experienced Class 1 / C+E / LGV1 / HGV1 Drivers for both day and night driving work with a well-known haulier based in Portsmouth. Our client can offer year-round work for the right candidates, with a variety of shifts available across days, nights and weekends. The role will mainly involve refrigerated / fridge work, delivering palletised and caged goods. Drivers with experience in curtain-side, tautliner, general haulage, trunking, multidrop and distribution work are also encouraged to apply.

THE ROLE

• Driving HGV Class 1 / C+E / LGV1 / HGV1 vehicles
• Day and night driving positions available
• Refrigerated / fridge trailer work
• Delivering palletised and caged goods
• Multidrop deliveries and collections
• Trunking and depot-to-depot work
• Curtain-side / curtainsider and tautliner work
• Loading and unloading goods
• Securing loads correctly and safely
• Completing delivery paperwork and using PDA systems
• Carrying out daily vehicle checks and reporting defects
• Working to delivery schedules and planned routes
• Following all Drivers' Hours, Tachograph and WTD regulations
• Customer-facing deliveries and professional communication
• Working safely and efficiently across local, regional and national routes

REQUIREMENTS

• Full HGV Class 1 / C+E / LGV1 licence
• Proven UK Class 1 HGV driving experience
• Experience with refrigerated / fridge work preferred
• Multidrop and delivery experience advantageous
• Curtain-side / tautliner experience advantageous
• Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Cardli>
• Good understanding of Drivers' Hours and WTD
• No DD, DR, DG or IN endorsement codes
• Good understanding of the English language, both written and spoken
• Reliable, flexible and professional approach to work
• Good geographical knowledge and route-planning awareness
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a transport team

SHIFTS & RATES

Various day and night shifts are available, including weekend work. Umbrella Rates:

• Days: £19 per hour Monday to Friday
• Nights: £20 per hour Monday to Friday
• Saturday: £21 per hour
• Sunday: £22 per hour
• Guaranteed 10 hours per shift Monday to Friday
• PAYE rates available on request
• All rates inclusive of holiday pay
