Job summary

Stobart is recruiting permanent HGV Class 1 drivers to join our General Haulage operation from Tesco Dirft Central Distribution Centre in Daventry, delivering to stores and RDCs across the region. This role values safe driving, excellent customer service and dependable delivery standards.

The positions are full time and permanent, with day or night shifts and weekend work possible depending on demand. Pay rates range from £15.15 to £18.96 per hour, with tax-free meal allowances and night-out

Qualifications

• Valid C+E Licence and ideally 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience.
• No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR convictions.
• Current DCPC and Tachograph cards.

Responsibilities

• General Haulage with Curtainside trailers to Distribution Centres and Stores.
• Collections from Stores to load out to Factories and Distribution Centres.
• Support general work, including occasional store deliveries and loading/unloading cages.
• Complete vehicle checks and documentation; maintain safety and professionalism.
• Adhere to drivers hours, WTD and tachograph legislation.

Job description

We are recruiting permanent HGV Class 1 drivers to join us working from Tesco Dirft Central Distribution Centre in Daventry on our General Haulage operation, completing store and RDC deliveries across the region. This role is ideal for a HGV driver who takes pride in safe driving, excellent customer service and dependable delivery standards.

The roles are full time, working on a permanent basis.

Days (Between 00:00-02:00 starts) available working any 5 days from 7.

Nights (between 16:00 - 19:00 starts) available working any 5 days from 7.

Weekend work may be required depending on demand.

Pay Rates

We have increased our pay rates, with rates now ranging from £15.15 to £18.96 per hour, depending on shift giving you even more reason to build your driving career with us.

• Mon-Fri Days - £15.15 per hour
• Mon-Fri Night Shift - £16.35 per hour
• Saturday and Sunday Day Shift - £18.15 per hour
• Saturday and Sunday Night Shift - £18.65 per hour
• Bank Holidays - £18.96 per hour.

On top of base salary our HGV Drivers will be entitled to £5 per shift tax-free meal allowance, and £25 per night out tax-free allowance (if applicable)

Job requirements

Driver Responsibilities

• General Haulage with Curtainside trailers, to Distribution Centres and Stores
• Collections from Stores to load out to Factories and Distribution Centres
• Supporting General work, including occasional store deliveries and requirement to load and unload cages
• Completing all necessary vehicle checks and documentation
• Maintaining high levels of safety, compliance, and professionalism
• Working closely with the transport team to ensure smooth operations
• Adhere to Driver's hours, WTD, and tachograph legislation.

Qualifications

You should hold a valid C+E Licence and ideally have a minimum of 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience (We will consider New Pass Drivers)

• No more than 6 points and no DD/ DR Code convictions.
• Hold a current valid DCPC & Tacho cards.
• Understand and able to comply with Drivers hours and WTD legislation.
• Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure vehicle safety and able to report defects correctly.
• Should comply with on-site health and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication skills.
