Job summary

First Military Recruitment is seeking an experienced Class 1 HGV Driver in Grays for a Monday-to-Friday role with no evenings or weekends. You will operate a Class 1 articulated vehicle around Felixstowe, London Gateway, Southampton and container movements.

Ex-military/veteran drivers are specifically welcomed, offering a stable civilian driving position with a varied workload and good work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Valid Category C+E (Class 1) HGV Licence.
• Valid Driver CPC qualification.
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• Previous Class 1 driving experience.
• Former Armed Forces personnel / veteran drivers preferred.
• Experience with containers, ports, shunting, or curtain-sided trailers advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Class 1 articulated vehicle in accordance with legislation.
• Carry out trailer shunting duties, moving curtain-sided trailers to/from Felixstowe.
• Undertake container movements from London Gateway, Southampton, and Felixstowe.
• Complete occasional multi-drop deliveries as required.
• Ensure loads transported safely and securely.
• Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly.
• Ensure transport documentation is accurate.
• Comply with Driver Hours, Tachograph, Health & Safety, and company procedures.
• Maintain professionalism when representing the company at ports.
• Work with transport team to ensure timely collections and deliveries.
• Maintain the allocated vehicle cleanliness and condition.
