Job summary

VMC Haulage is hiring a Class 1 HGV Driver in Milton Keynes for a full-time role with a £40,000 annual salary. You will deliver trailers to fulfilment centres, interact professionally with stakeholders, and complete daily vehicle checks. Weekend work is required.

Drivers must hold a valid C+E licence with DQC, have 35 hours CPC, a digital tachograph, and English proficiency. The position includes regular overtime and onsite parking at a modern RDC.

The Role

• Use navigation apps and knowledge of area to deliver trailers to fulfilment centres
• Interact with stakeholders in a professional manner
• Complete daily walk around checks on vehicle and report any issues
• No loading or unloading required.
• Must be able to work weekends

Shift Patterns

• Flexible shift patterns
• Shift length: 12 hours
• Permanent role – Full time
• 5 Days per week
• Plus overtime

HGV Driver Requirements

• Have a Valid Driving License with category C+E (HGV class 1).
• Hold a UK Driver DQC (Blue Card) – Drivers CPC.
• Have 35hrs of Driver Professional Competence.
• Have a Digital Tachograph / Smart Chip Card.
• Be able to speak & read English satisfactorily.
• Have a maximum of 6 penalty points on Driver’s License
• Successfully interviewed drivers will be required to pass drug and alcohol & criminal
• records background checks by Her Majesty’s Government authorities, and external reference agencies.

HGV Driver Responsibilities

• Interact with our clients in a professional and courteous manner.
• Complete daily walk around checks on trucks/trailers
• Ensure Drivers Hours and Working Time Regulations are fully compliant.
• Keep in contact with the Transport Manager regarding delays to destinations
• Help develop new and better practices for the rest of your driver team, by providing feedback about jobs to the business, so we may do better, and help you the driver.
