Job summary

Aspion is recruiting HGV Class 1 Drivers for UK and Ireland general haulage on a permanent basis. The role features Monday–Friday tramping, a brand-new Volvo fleet, and trips between the UK and Ireland with tautliner and curtain-sided trailers. No handballing is required and loads are prepared for you.

50-hour weeks with overtime and a night-out payment are included. Starting October 2026, permanent opportunities available in Bootle, with PAYE pay and 20 days leave plus 8 bank holidays.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 1 (C+E) licence is required.
• Minimum age 21.
• Licence must have 6 points or fewer.
• No DD endorsements on licence.
• Must hold Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
• Previous Class 1 experience preferred.
• General haulage & curtain sider experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Drive brand-new Volvo Class 1 vehicle on UK/Ireland routes.
• Use tautliner/curtain-sided trailers for general haulage.
• Regular Monday–Friday tramping; travel UK/Ireland incl. ferry.
• Secure loads with straps; no handballing involved.
• Complete vehicle and safety checks and accurate documentation.
• Comply with Drivers' Hours and tachograph regulations.

The Job

Aspion are currently recruiting for HGV Class 1 Drivers for a fantastic permanent opportunity involving UK and Ireland general haulage.

Our client is looking to take on a minimum of 5 drivers, with the opportunity to join a growing operation with 20 brand-new Volvo trucks, all registered in Ireland and fitted with high-spec sleeper cabs and camera mirror systems.

The role involves Monday-Friday tramping, travelling between the UK and Ireland with tautliner / curtain-sided trailers.

And the best part? No handballing. Loads are tipped and loaded for you — your job is essentially strap it, secure it and go.

What We Need

• Completing regular Monday-Friday tramping.
• Travelling by ferry to and from Ireland as part of the role.
• Securing loads correctly using straps.
• Completing tip-and-load deliveries — no handballing required.
• Completing vehicle and safety checks.
• Maintaining accurate delivery documentation.
• Following Drivers' Hours, Working Time Directive and tachograph regulations.
