Job summary

Historic Environment Scotland is seeking a Labourer at Urquhart Castle. The role is permanent with pensionable terms and a starting salary of £27,740, supporting the Monument Conservation Unit in conservation, maintenance and presentation tasks.

You will undertake lime mortar work, operate small plant and equipment, assist tradespersons, and participate in health and safety training while maintaining sites and handling routine grounds maintenance across properties.

Qualifications

• Good all-round understanding and practical experience of using lime mortars.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety.
• Operation of small plant and equipment such as cement mixers.
• Working with different types of mortar and mix proportions.
• Good hand eye coordination.

Responsibilities

• Mixing of lime and cement mortars and transportation to and from working area.
• Operation of plant equipment.
• Upkeep & maintenance of small plant and equipment.
• Provide semi-skilled assistance to enable tradespersons to carry out duties.
• Attend training courses as required including health and safety.
• Keep the working site clean and tidy.
• Grounds maintenance works including turf repairs and weed control.
• Car park and transport facilitation including snow clearance.
• Basic responsive repairs as requested by visitor operations.
