Job summary

Scottish Canals is hiring a Project Manager within Engineering & Infrastructure to efficiently manage multiple engineering projects while safeguarding canal heritage. The role is permanent, at 35 hours per week, across Glasgow, Falkirk, and Inverness, with a focus on delivering outcomes on time and within budget.

You will lead project lifecycles, coordinate resources, manage budgets, and ensure safety and environmental considerations are integrated throughout delivery.

Qualifications

  • Degree (min HND/C) in a relevant engineering or construction discipline.
  • CEng (IEng min) or close to Professional Review submission (support will be given to progress attainment).
  • Strong understanding of NEC contracts and construction project delivery.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, scope and deliver multiple engineering and infrastructure projects within timescales and budgets.
  • Manage project lifecycles including planning, sequencing activities, and tracking milestones.
  • Coordinate resources, including staff, contractors, and equipment, to ensure successful project execution.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, cost plans, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual, health & safety, and CDM requirements.
  • Identify and manage project risks, escalating issues where necessary.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and partners, maintaining clear communication.
  • Ensure environmental, heritage, and sustainability considerations are embedded across all project stages.
