Job summary

Calanais Visitor Centre in the United Kingdom is seeking an enthusiastic Engagement Officer to promote the centre and its programmes, strengthen community connections, and support the visitor experience.

The role is 22.5 hours per week on a permanent contract, with three days per week (Mon-Fri) and occasional evenings/weekends for events. You will work with the Heritage Manager to develop engaging heritage activities and build partnerships with local groups.

Qualifications

• Excellent organisational, planning and interpersonal skills.
• Experience of planning and delivering projects within agreed budgets and timescales.
• Genuine enthusiasm for promoting heritage, culture and visitor engagement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with careful proofreading.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver aspects of the heritage programme in partnership with the Heritage Manager.
• Promote diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility through the heritage for all programme.
• Champion Gaelic culture and language throughout activities.
• Develop and maintain effective partnerships with community groups and heritage organisations.
• Coordinate visitor feedback through surveys and evaluation activities.
• Create engaging, accessible content for communications and marketing.
• Coordinate media enquiries, press releases and promotional campaigns.
• Commit to continuous professional development and keep up to date with sector developments.
