Job summary

Powis Castle and Garden is seeking a Collections and House Officer to open the house daily and ensure presentation standards are consistently high for visitors. The role involves practical tasks and office-based work, supervised by the Collections and House Manager.

You will contribute to routine and preventive conservation, maintain records from cleaning, and supervise Collections Assistants and volunteers to support a welcoming, well-cared-for property.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising or supporting others in daily work.
• Clear communication and relationship-building with a range of people.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and ways of working.
• Identify practical ways to make spaces and objects accessible to a wider range of visitors.

Responsibilities

• Open the house every day and maintain high presentation standards for visitors.
• Conservation and cleaning programme, routine and deep cleaning.
• Record information gathered during cleaning to improve knowledge of the house and its contents.
• Supervise Collections Assistants and support volunteers.
