Job summary

The National Trust for Scotland is seeking a Visitor Services Supervisor – Collections Care to oversee preventive conservation, documentation, access, and engagement across significant collections and historic interiors. You will lead cleaning programmes, safe handling of objects, and ensure high standards of care while coordinating with the Operations Manager and Regional Conservator.

You will recruit and train staff and volunteers, manage conservation equipment, and contribute to visitor

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant subject (e.g., Conservation, Museum Studies, Art History) or equivalent experience.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Competent user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to problem solve and respond quickly in challenging circumstances.

Responsibilities

• Lead on Integrated Pest Management, environmental monitoring, and housekeeping plans.
• Plan and oversee collections care cleaning for historic interiors and spaces.
• Monitor and document damage, movement, and location of collections using AIS or similar systems.
• Recruit, train, supervise and support volunteers involved in collections care and engagement.
• Lead on collections protection during events, filming, and contractor work.
