Job summary

4Xtrahands Limited is seeking a herdsperson for a grazing dairy unit near Warminster, Wiltshire. You will join a three-person self-relieving team, supporting the herd manager with milking, calving, fertility and grassland management.

Key duties include feeding, yard work, herd health, calf rearing and keeping accurate records. Experience on a similar system is preferred, and a visa is required for overseas applicants.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar dairy grazing system is preferred.
• Ability to milk, calve and manage herd health tasks.
• Good grassland and fertility management skills.

Job description

Due to retirement, we have an exciting contract vacancy on a grazing farm near Warminster in Wiltshire; the unit being one of two run by the farmer on the same estate.

The unit has the following features:

• 430 Spring calved cows
• 25:50 Waikato Parlour with simple feeders and Mount Pleasant backing gate
• Excellent infrastructure of tracks and paddocks
• Covered handling facilities
• Cubicles with mattresses (cows not outwintered)
• Easy feed and self-feed grass and maize silage

We require a herdsperson, looking for their next move, preferably with current experience on a similar system, to work as part of a three-person self-relieving team.

Your role will be supporting the excellent herd manager with all tasks such as milking, calving, fertility management, grassland management, feeding, yard work, herd health, calf rearing and record keeping.
