Job summary

Thorn Baker Group in Darley Dale is seeking an experienced Heavy Plant Fitter/Technician to join a busy maintenance team. You’ll maintain heavy mobile plant and industrial equipment, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding and repairs.

This permanent, Monday–Friday role offers a £43,036.20 annual salary, overtime opportunities, annual reviews and a range of bonuses and benefits. A Level 3 or equivalent qualification and driving licence are desirable.

Qualifications

• Proven experience maintaining heavy plant or mobile equipment.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic and braking systems.
• Experience in heavy industrial, quarrying, recycling, or construction environments.
• Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Plant Maintenance or Mechanical Engineering desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and routine servicing.
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and braking faults.
• Maintaining and repairing heavy mobile plant and industrial equipment.
• Working on engines, transmissions, hydraulics, steering, suspension and braking systems.
• Investigating defects, breakdowns and equipment faults.
• Carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance.
• Attending on-site and off-site breakdowns where required.
• Preparing plant and vehicles for statutory inspections.
• Welding, fabrication, cutting and grinding where competent.
• Completing maintenance records and job cards.
• Maintaining a safe, clean and organised workshop.
