Job summary

Alecto Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Mobile Heavy Plant Engineer to join a well-established operation with a modern fleet and a strong focus on minimising downtime.

This mobile role covers Scotland and the North of England, with 45 hours per week (Mon-Fri 8:00–17:30) and a basic salary of £50,310 plus overtime at 1.5x. You will fault-find, service and repair heavy plant equipment and work across ADTs, loaders, material handlers and diesel engines.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical engineering experience.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, electrics and diesel engines.
• Experience with DPF, emissions and exhaust aftertreatment systems.

Responsibilities

• Planned servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Mechanical fault finding and repairs.
• Hydraulic fault finding and repairs.
• Electrical fault diagnosis and attending mobile breakdowns.
• Using diagnostic equipment to identify faults.
• Supporting the workshop when required.
• Carrying out inspections and maintenance.
• Minimising machine downtime.

Mobile Heavy Plant Engineer - North East

£21.50 per hour | £50,310 per year | Overtime at 1.5x

Location: North East - covering Scotland & the North of England

Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:30pm (30-minute unpaid lunch)

Alecto Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Mobile Heavy Plant Engineer / Heavy Plant Engineer / Plant Fitter / Mobile Plant Fitter to join a well-established operation with a modern fleet and a strong focus on minimising downtime.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Plant Engineer, Heavy Plant Fitter, Agricultural Engineer, Agricultural Technician, Forestry Engineer or Construction Plant Engineer looking for a rewarding mobile engineering role.

The Role

You'll be responsible for keeping a modern fleet operating safely and efficiently, working on:

• Articulated Dump Trucks
• Wheeled Loaders
• Material Handlers
• Heavy Plant & Construction Equipment
• Diesel Engines
• Hydraulic Systems
• Electrical Systems
• DPF & Exhaust Aftertreatment Systems

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planned servicing and preventative maintenance

You’ll ideally have:

• Strong mechanical engineering experience

• Experience using diagnostic equipmentGood computer/tablet literacyExcellent fault-finding and problem-solving skillsThe ability to work independently
• A highly organised and methodical approachExcellent attention to detailA full UK driving licence

Experience within plant, agricultural machinery, forestry equipment, construction equipment, HGVs, commercial vehicles or heavy machinery would be highly advantageous.
