Job Title: Equipment Operator I

Location: Custer, SD (commute or relocation required)

Custer County is seeking applications for a full-time Equipment Operator I position with the Highway Department. This role is crucial in maintaining over 400 miles of county roads, involving heavy equipment operation, snow and ice removal, and general road maintenance throughout the year in all weather conditions.

The standard work schedule is four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, with weekends and holidays off, except during emergencies or weather events.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Starting wage: $23.18 per hour
• Full benefits package included

Qualifications:

• At least 18 years old
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds
• Valid South Dakota Class A CDL with tanker endorsement (must be obtained within six months of hire)
• Experience with equipment operation preferred
