Job summary

East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Healthcare Support Worker for the Children's Ward in Colchester. You will support clinical staff with measurements, data entry to Evolve, and phlebotomy where possible, while promoting child- and family-centred care.

You will act as a role model for patient care, assist with training, and provide essential support to the team in delivering high-quality services within Colchester Hospital.

Qualifications

• Experience in a clinical or hospital environment is preferred.
• Good communication with children and families, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Competence in accurate recording of patient measurements and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Record observations and measurements (height/weight) accurately.
• Add data to the Evolve system and support clinical staff.
• Act as chaperone when required and assist with phlebotomy progress.
• Provide child- and family-centred care and liaise with MDT and associated agencies.

Job description

The successful applicant will work as part of the nursing team within Children's Services to provide a high standard of child and family centred care. The post holder will be an advocate for children and their families.

They will promote child focussed, family-centred care and provide effective liaison with the multi-disciplinary team and other professional colleagues and agencies involved within the child's care.

The post holder will act as a role model in the delivery of patient care, support and teach staff contributing to the development of the service.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, experienced Senior Healthcare Support Worker who is looking to develop their knowledge and skills working within the Children's Ward at Colchester Hospital.

This role is a vital role within Children's Services, providing essential support to clinical staff with the recording of observations including the accurate recording of the height and weight of patients and adding to our Evolve system. You will also be competent in children's phlebotomy or working towards this. In addition, the successful candidate will be a chaperone for the clinical staff when required so excellent communication skills are essential.
