Job summary

NHS Shetland in Lerwick is seeking a Health Care Support Worker for Ward 3 on a substantive basis. The role offers full-time and part-time hours with Band 3 pay (£29,103 - £31,409 per annum pro rata) plus the Distant Island Allowance (£2,578 pro rata).

You will work as part of a busy medical ward, delivering high standards of patient care, with induction and PVG requirements. Closing date 18 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Educated to SVQ2 level in healthcare or equivalent experience.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills; numeracy.

Responsibilities

• Assist Ward 3 with delivering care on a busy medical ward.
• Learn new clinical skills and support patients to achieve high standards of care.
• Follow Induction Standards and Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers.
• Support flexible working hours including part-time arrangements where required.
