Job summary

NHS Lanarkshire invites applications for Modern Apprenticeships in Healthcare Support (Hospital Based), to be hosted across Wishaw, Monklands and Hairmyers. The role offers on‑the‑job training, a SCQF Level 6 qualification and dedicated support via buddy and Job Coach.

Starting 12 January 2027, 36 hours per week, fixed term for 12 months. Band 2 salary (£26,696–£28,988) with pro‑rata for part‑time hours. No prior experience required.

Qualifications

• Must be aged 16–24 on 1 January 2027 (up to 29 with disability or care experience).
• Proficiency at SCQF Level 5/National 5 level is required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patients and perform basic health checks.
• Help patients eat their meals.
• Assist with getting up and going to bed.
• Support washing, oral care, bathing and dressing.
• Assist with toilet visits or changing incontinence aids.
• Caring for patients at end of life.
