CapeClarke is exclusively retained by Medical Protection Society regarding its search for a new Healthcare Solicitor or Claims Handler (Claims Manager) for its modern office in Central London.

Role & Responsibilities

The main duties of the Claims Manager (Healthcare Solicitor or Claims Handler) include:

Service Delivery:
  • Manage claims files ensuring quality and fairness, complying with governance and policies.
  • Handle regulated claims activities within Lloyd’s market standards.
  • Proactively manage claims to meet SLAs, ensuring efficiency and excellent member service.
  • Apply technical and commercial judgment for strategic claims resolution.
  • Support project delivery, manage expenses, and minimize claims costs.
Member:
  • Address complaints promptly and fairly, improving processes for better member outcomes.
  • Maintain clear communication with members, ensuring advice is accurate and empathetic.
People:
  • Ensure personal performance and engagement, adhering to policies and standards.
  • Learn from quality assessments to improve service.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders, sharing knowledge and promoting inclusivity.
Risk:
  • Identify and report risks, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Make informed claims decisions and escalate appropriately.
Responsibilities:
  • Support team KPIs and service standards.
  • Represent member interests in governance and external communications.
  • Support stakeholder management and professional development.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and participate in strategic changes.

The ideal candidate will have 2-10 years of post-qualification experience in clinical negligence healthcare law, with either claimant or defendant experience. The MPS considers diverse backgrounds fitting for this role.
