Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Consultant Lawyer with a strong background in disputes and commercial law to join our team on a freelance or consulting basis. As the in-house legal expert, you will provide high-level legal advice, ensuring that EIL GLOBAL operates within the boundaries of the law while proactively managing risks and protecting the company’s interests. You will work closely with the leadership team and other departments to resolve complex legal issues, negotiate contracts, and manage legal disputes effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel on a wide range of commercial matters, including contracts, corporate governance, and intellectual property.
• Manage, coordinate, and resolve high-value and complex disputes, both in the UK and internationally.
• Draft and review contracts, commercial agreements, and other legal documents, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Support the business in risk management by identifying potential legal issues and proposing solutions.
• Represent EIL GLOBAL in legal negotiations, settlements, and formal proceedings as needed.
• Advise on corporate governance, compliance, and internal policies to ensure legal compliance across the business.
• Work closely with senior management and cross-functional teams to align legal strategy with business objectives.
• Monitor changes in laws and regulations that may impact the business, providing proactive guidance to senior leadership.
• Assist with the development and implementation of legal strategies for business expansion and new market entries.
• Collaborate with external counsel on specialized legal matters when required.
• Provide training and legal insights to internal teams on key legal topics and updates.

Key Requirements

• Qualified solicitor or barrister with a strong commercial and dispute resolution background.
• Proven experience in handling complex commercial disputes and managing litigation, both domestically and internationally.
• Excellent understanding of commercial contracts, business law, and intellectual property matters.
• Strong negotiation and drafting skills.
• Ability to provide clear and actionable legal advice to non-legal stakeholders.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively within a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working with multinational companies or in-house legal teams is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of international dispute resolution mechanisms and jurisdictions.
• Familiarity with specific legal areas such as mergers and acquisitions, data protection, or regulatory compliance.
• Experience working in technology, financial services, or other complex sectors.
• Fluent in additional languages (preferred but not essential).
