Job summary

Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting hospital cleaners to join our dedicated facilities team at RUH Bath. You will help maintain high levels of cleanliness across wards, corridors and clinical areas, supporting infection prevention and patient comfort.

The role requires reliability, good communication with staff and patients, and adherence to safety procedures. We offer stable hours, full-time and part-time shifts, and training.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements in healthcare.
• Understanding environmental hygiene impact on patients, visitors and staff.
• Experience in a customer-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness across floors, furniture, fittings, walls, partitions and doors.
• Operate cleaning equipment safely to achieve required cleanliness.
• Handle and dispose of domestic and clinical waste per procedures.
• Replenish essential supplies (paper towels, toilet tissue, soap, hand moisturiser, alcohol gel).
• Complete cleaning duties according to schedules and adapt as needed for clinical needs.
• Document full cleans and other cleaning activities.
• Follow approved cleaning methods and frequencies.
• Communicate with Supervisors, patients, visitors and staff to maintain standards.
• Follow infection prevention practices and safe working methods.
• Support training of new cleaning staff.
• Participate in trials of cleaning materials and methods.
• Follow Health and Safety procedures and report defects.
• Identify health and safety hazards and take action.
• Report accidents and assist investigations.
• Undertake deep cleans when required.
