Job description

Job Overview

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join us as a Healthcare Assistant in the Theatre Department. You will need to enjoy working as a team player and have a flexible attitude to meet service demands. Applicants with experience are desirable; however, training to achieve the standards required will be provided.

Theatres have an extensive development package and opportunities within their “Grow your own” workforce. There is also an opportunity to enter the Trainee Nursing Associate or Operating Department Practitioner apprenticeship programme.

It is essential that you possess GCSE Grade A-C (9-4) or equivalent in Maths and English to apply for this post.

<
Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will have a unique opportunity to join the Theatre Department at The Princess Royal Hospital, during a period of workforce development to aid the recovery and restoration programme, while continuing to provide safe, quality services that are accessible and sustainable for future generations.

Working as part of a team, you will provide exceptional care for each patient, caring for only one patient at a time to ensure the highest standards of care for every patient every time.

Our Theatre HCAs play an essential role in the smooth operation of our theatres and help maintain our high standards of care. They assist the wider theatre team with the safe passage of patients through the surgical pathway.

The department offers dedicated support to help you settle into your new role. Your role would predominantly be in the Theatre Department. You will be supernumerary for three months while completing specific HCA Theatre and on-call competencies. We are committed to internal professional development, with a dedicated team overseeing all training provided.

Working for your organisation

The department currently provides a 24-hour emergency surgical service, including Maternity Theatres. Flexibility and a commitment to night shifts, on-call duties, and shift work are essential.

This position will mainly be based in the Theatre Department and the new Elective Surgical Hub at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. However, there may be occasional work required at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
