Job Summary:

The post holder will be responsible for providing administrative and clinical support to the clinical team, particularly the nursing team, to promote and maintain high standards of care for patients. The post holder will carry out duties supervised by the Nurse Practitioner, ensuring they do not perform tasks for which they lack the necessary knowledge and skill.

Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical:
  • Work under indirect supervision of the nursing team, carrying out procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height and weight measurements, venepuncture, urinalysis, ECG, peak flow readings, inhaler technique, spirometry, and assisting with NHS Health Checks.
  • Assist with care plans, pre-assessments, simple dressings, B12 injections, and give flu injections to over 60s under supervision.
  • Assist at coil fitting clinics and minor surgery clinics, ensuring patients receive prior information.
  • Check daily that emergency equipment is in full working order and properly stored.
Administration:
  • Process smear results and manage the recall system using Open Exeter.
  • Ensure all medical equipment is maintained, serviced, and replaced as needed, liaising with the Clinical Administrator.
  • Oversee proper disposal of medical waste, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and adequate supplies.
  • Ensure consulting rooms are stocked with necessary equipment and redistribute supplies as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Finance Administrator to maintain stock levels of coil fitting instruments, ensuring their safety and proper storage.
  • Ensure no out-of-date clinical stock is used in the practice.
