We have a fantastic opportunity for a Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant to join the Psychosocial team atHMP Wymott, a Category C male prison located in Leyland. HMP Wymott has capacity of around 1,100, and has a varied and complex population.

This is a fantastic, brand new opportunity to work on the wings, looking after substance misuse patients. This role is new to our service, and is joining the psychosocial team of around 13. No 2 days are the same in this challenging, yet rewarding and supportive environment.

Main duties of the job

As our new Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant , your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Work with substance misuse patients across the wings and clinics
  • Carry out physical health checks - bloods, physical obs, ECGs, weight checks etc
  • Work with the psychosocial team, including group work, drug testing and psychosocial tests
  • Be a key part of the nursing team - assisting nurses and reporting back on findings and assessments
  • Ensure continuity of care for all patients, and deliver outstanding care at all times
  • Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics

  • Hold an NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care
  • Have experience within a mental health environment
