Working as a Health Care Assistant at Practice Plus Group Ophthalmology, Bamber Bridge, Preston, you'll provide support to the nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of a high standard of care to patients in a safe and caring environment. This will involve working with our Ophthalmic Nurses in outpatients and theatre.

Above all, you have a natural ability to help make the lives of others more fulfilling and want to work in an environment where the work can be hard, but also fun and rewarding.

This role is for 37.5 hours per week across 4 days, with travel to mobile sites across Preston, Lancashire, Manchester, and Yorkshire as part of the contract. Travel time and mileage are paid. Shifts start at 07:30 am. Applicants need a full and clean driver’s license and ophthalmology experience.
Main duties of the job
  • Welcoming visitors to the service in a pleasant and efficient manner, ensuring the appropriate person is notified of their arrival.
  • Dealing with enquiries in a helpful and courteous manner, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Demonstrating competence in the accurate recording of routine clinical observations.
  • Carrying out clinical skills relevant to the unit.
  • Assisting the clinical team with data entry, filling, and maintaining accurate documentation of care.
  • Ensuring treatment rooms/areas are adequately stocked, tidy, and fit for purpose.
  • Adhering to appropriate infection control procedures.
  • Participating fully as a team member, sharing knowledge and information to promote a cohesive team.
  • Accurately recording up-to-date information on records, ensuring the department is promptly informed of any changes.
  • Participating in stock control and ordering of consumables within the clinical areas.

  • An NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care and be willing to undertake training to gain further clinical skills.

  • The ability to receive and communicate information accurately and take instruction from professional colleagues.
  • The flexibility to fit into an internal rotating shift pattern.
  • Ophthalmology experience is a must.
