Job Summary

NHS Blood and Transplant collects over 7, blood donations every day, providing vital blood and blood products that help save and improve lives. Our team provides a welcoming environment for donors, ensuring they receive exceptional care. We operate outside hospitals, collecting blood from donors in Donor Centres and communities.

As a Healthcare Assistant – Blood Donation, you will learn valuable skills and be a vital part of our team, playing a role in saving lives in a dynamic environment.

We offer extensive induction and training, including the Skills for Health Care Certificate, recognized across the NHS.

Main duties of the job

Your responsibilities will include:

• Participating in training to learn needle insertion techniques for blood donation.
• Supporting donors during their donation to ensure a positive experience.
• Accurately recording donor documentation and data.
• Building relationships to encourage donor return through excellent service.
• Handling blood products, needles, and equipment safely.

Work hours vary, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, with notice provided.
