Job summary

MedGen Healthcare is seeking compassionate Mental Health Healthcare Assistants to support children and young people with complex needs in Weston-super-Mare. You will provide emotional support, help with daily routines, and implement planned strategies in a safe, nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months UK experience as a Healthcare Assistant.
• Experience supporting individuals with autism, ADHD and challenging behaviour.
• Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
• In-date PMVA training or willingness to complete training.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent emotional support and reassurance to children in distress.
• Support routines for children with autism/ADHD to manage transitions.
• Assist with activities of daily living and maintain structured routines.
• Implement behaviour support plans and positive strategies.
• De-escalate challenging behaviours using PMVA techniques where needed.
• Maintain accurate records of care and incidents.
• Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment.

MedGen Healthcare is seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Mental Health Healthcare Assistants to provide high-quality care and support to children and young people with complex mental health needs.

The Role

• Provide consistent emotional support and reassurance to children experiencing anxiety, distress, or behavioural challenges.
• Support children with autism and ADHD to manage routines, transitions, and sensory sensitivities.
• Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, mealtimes, hygiene, and maintaining a structured routine.
• Implement behaviour support plans and positive behaviour strategies in line with care plans.
• Safely manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using PMVA techniques where necessary.
• Maintain accurate, clear, and timely records of care provided and incidents.
• Promote a safe, nurturing, structured, and stimulating environment tailored to individual needs.

Requirements

• Minimum 6 months UK experience working as a Healthcare Assistant
• Experience supporting individuals with Autism, ADHD, and challenging behaviour.
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
• In date PMVA training (or willingness to do).
