Market Surgery seeks a Healthcare Assistant to join their skilled nursing team in Rotherham. This role involves comprehensive patient care, supporting daily activities, and ensuring a clean clinical environment. The position offers 30 or 37.5 hours weekly, promoting health and well-being among patients.
Market Surgery is delighted to be advertising for a Healthcare Assistant to join our diverse and highly skilled nursing team. This is an additional role as we grow and develop our current team.
We are looking to recruit a suitably qualified Healthcare Assistant for either 30 or 37.5 hours per week.
Working days are 4 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday)
Please note that interviews will be held on the morning of 7th and 9th July
Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) in primary care play a crucial role in providing comprehensive and patient-centred care. Their work contributes to the smooth functioning of the practice and the well-being of patient. HCAs in primary care have a wide range of duties, primarily focused on supporting patients and assisting the clinical team. Their responsibilities include taking vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, weight), assisting with personal care, preparing patients for examinations, and maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment.They also play a role in health promotion, patient education, and administrative tasks.
Healthcare assistants (HCAs) provide essential support to patients in various healthcare settings, focusing on personal care, assisting with daily activities, and monitoring patient conditions. They work under the supervision of registered nurses or other healthcare professionals, ensuring patients receive the care and support they need.

You'll be joining a large and yet cohesive team at the Surgery which consists of 49 staff members across both clinical and administrative fields
We also work closely with other GP practices across Rotherham, particularly with the other GP practices of Health Village Dearne Valley PCN of which we are an active member.
Thefollowing are the core responsibilities of the healthcare assistant. There maybe on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependentupon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
a.UndertakeNHS Health checks and New patient health checks where appropriate.
b.Supportthe practice nurse with health promotion programmes
c.Carryout baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature,pulse rate, recording findings accurately
d.Facilitateroutine and Home BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
e.Undertakewound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required
f.Supportthe practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics
g.Carryout BMI checks as directed
i.Undertakevenepuncture
j.Administerinjections and vaccinations to patients under PSD
k.Whentrained, carry out ear irrigation under the supervison of the practice nurse
l.Carryout ECGs as requested
m.Ensurespecimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
n.Providesupport during minor operations as required
o.Ensureclinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
p.Ensurefridges are cleaned routinely and fridge temperature is checked and documentedin accordance with practice policy and guidance.
q.Ensureclinical waste and sharps are correctly disposed of in accordance with thepractice IPC policy
Deliver opportunistic health promotion whereappropriate
