Nottinghamshire Hospice is currently recruiting compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistants to join its expanding care team in Nottingham. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of people with life-limiting illnesses by providing high-quality, person-centred care in the community.

Palliative care experience is not required, as full training and support will be provided. What matters most is a caring nature, a commitment to dignity and respect, and a desire to support patients and their families during challenging times.

Both full and part-time roles are available, with flexible working patterns of 18 to 36 hours per week, typically delivered over two to four 9-hour shifts.

Nottinghamshire Hospice is a registered charity dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people with terminal and life-limiting illnesses. Its mission is to help patients live as fully and comfortably as possible, with compassionate care at the heart of everything it does.

Founded in 1980 by local people, the hospice supports individuals and their loved ones across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Each year, nearly £4 million must be raised through community support to continue delivering dignified, respectful, and person-centred end-of-life care.

About the Role

Hospice in Your Home (HIYH) Palliative Care Assistant

18 – 36 hours per week worked over two – four 9-hour shifts

Shifts worked across a 7 day / 3-shift roster. Monday to Sunday (early) 7.00am-4.00pm, (late) 4.00pm-1.00am and (Night) 10.00pm -7.00am

This role…

You will work within a supportive multi-disciplinary team, in a professional service, making a real difference to the lives of patients and their families. Working in an environment where the patient is truly the centre of care, you will be part of a supportive and fun team where everyone is valued for their unique skills and experience. You do not need palliative care experience (although that would be great) as we offer a comprehensive induction package.

Our Hospice in Your Home Team provides planned 1:1 care and a roaming service to people in their own homes. The successful postholder will work shifts across the week, including weekends and bank holidays, on a planned rota basis.

You must have Health Care Assistant experience and possess a minimum of a Care Certificate Qualification. Support will be given to the postholder to develop their career ambitions.

You must possess a full UK driving license and have access to a vehicle.

The successful applicant will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK. Nottinghamshire Hospice is a non-smoking organisation.
