Job description

InHealth sees more than 5 million patients each year and diagnostic imaging is one of the busiest services that we provide. Our fully integrated imaging services offer increased capacity for NHS trusts, and convenient, fast access to services for patients. We are currently looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join our South West Mobile MRI Team, working between two mobile units based in Plymouth. The main unit will be based close to the Peninsula Academy and the other you would support is local to Derriford. All shifts are day shifts. This is a Contract to start as soon as possible, ending in March 2026.

Overview

Role: Healthcare Assistant (Healthcare/Clinical Assistant) supporting the Mobile MRI team. Primarily patient facing, with administrative responsibilities to support clinical and clerical teams.

Job details

Hours: Monday – Sunday, 36 hours per week, 3 x 12 hour shifts, on a rota pattern

Location: Plymouth

Contract: Until 31st March 2026

What you will do

As part of the clinical team, you will help ensure patients receive the best standard of care from arrival through to departure, keeping patients informed and engaged throughout the diagnostic pathway. You will welcome patients into the clinical area and prepare them for their MRI scan. You will also assist with administrative tasks to support the clinical and clerical teams, while remaining primarily patient facing.

What you are responsible for
  • Welcoming patients in a professional, courteous manner, coordinating their arrival through to departure
  • Escorting patients to and from the clinical area as required, explaining the procedure and addressing questions or concerns professionally
  • Completing the patient's pre-scan data protection/consent form and health and safety questionnaire (where applicable)
  • Assessing and monitoring the patient's condition after the procedure and reporting any changes to relevant staff immediately
  • Delivering an excellent level of patient care to support a positive patient experience in the MRI department
  • Accurately entering relevant patient data into the patient management system
  • Managing unit administration, including:
    • Handling telephone, direct and face-to-face enquiries
    • Booking clinically validated appointments on the internal system
    • Ensuring all payments are invoiced promptly and accurately

  • Proficient administration skills, including experience with Microsoft packages
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
