Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join the Sexual Health Service in Blackpool. You will assist doctors and nurses to provide high standards of patient care, promoting dignity and comfort while working as a supportive team member.

The role requires assisting with examinations, offering emotional support, acting as a chaperone, and performing basic observations and screenings under supervision.

Responsibilities

• To assist the Doctor or Nurse throughout the clinical examination or clinical procedure of patients in sexual health clinics.
• To offer emotional support to patients during the examination procedure.
• To act as a chaperone to both medical and nursing staff as required according to trust policy.
• Following training, perform basic observations (BP, pulse, weight, height, BMI) and simple screenings (urinalysis, pregnancy tests, Chlamydia) reporting results to trained nurses.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, caring and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to join our sexual health service team in Blackpool.

The post holder will be required to assist doctors and nurses in order to provide a high standard of care to patients attending all areas of Sexual Health Services ensuring they promote the patient dignity and comfort. The post holder will work as a team member, ensuring the smooth running and efficiency of the service is maintained

Please note this role will not be eligible for sponsorship as it doesn't meet the minimum salary requirements for a skilled worker visa, therefore you must have appropriate right to work in the UK or your application will not be progressed to the next stage of Recruitment.

Duties And Responsibilities

• To assist the Doctor or Nurse throughout the clinical examination or clinical procedure of patients in sexual health clinics.
• To offer emotional support to patients during the examination procedure.
• To act as a chaperone to both medical and nursing staff as required according to trust policy.
• Following training perform basic observations (such as BP, pulse, weight, height and BMI) and other screening tests for patients within the sexual health care setting, for example, urinalysis, pregnancy testing, urine Chlamydia tests reporting the results to trained nurses.

Blackpool Sexual Health Service is part of Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts and provides Contraception and Sexual Health Services throughout the county. We operate from several clinical hubs based in Fleetwood, St Annes, Kirkham and we operate a specialist Under 25's Service in Blackpool town centre.
